Industry-University-Government Consortium to be Established to Cultivate Human Resources for the Semiconductor Industry in Kyushu

At the end of March, the Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry will establish the Kyushu Semiconductor Human Resources Development Consortium, an industry-university-government group that aims to cultivate human resources for the production of semiconductors in Kyushu. Members will include a joint venture between the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC), which will open a new plant in Kikuyo Town in Kumamoto Prefecture, and Sony Group, Kyushu University and Kumamoto University. After the consortium is launched, it plans to develop human resources for the next five years. It also plans to strengthen the supply chain by matching large companies with local companies equipped with outstanding technologies and to promote exchange between global and local companies.
