Fukuoka City to Trial Credit Card Touch Payment at All Subway Stations

Fukuoka City will expand the scope of the current trial that allows passengers to pass through ticket gates with a credit card contactless payment system from the current seven subway stations to all 36 stations. The expanded trial will begin on March 27, when the Nanakuma Line extension opens, and will continue until March 31, 2024. In addition to Visa Touch, passengers will also be able to use the touch payment functionality of five other cards: JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover and UnionPay. The City will continue collecting data to verify the effectiveness of the scheme while aiming to increase convenience.
