Fukuoka Prefecture and CJPT Collaborate to Promote Hydrogen Trucks

Fukuoka Prefecture has signed a cooperative agreement with Commercial Japan Partnership Technologies (CJPT), a commercial vehicle technology development company funded by Toyota Motor Corporation and other automakers, to promote the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell (FC) trucks and other FC vehicles. The two parties will promote the adoption of FC vehicles as official government vehicles, for use in regional transport, and as private commercial vehicles, and they will cooperate in promoting the development of infrastructure to support the use of long-distance trucks and other FC vehicles on major roads. Last August, Fukuoka Prefecture formulated its Hydrogen Green Growth Strategy, which comprised the two pillars of i) hydrogen production innovation and increased hydrogen usage and ii) the clustering of related industries. CJPT is working to lower the cost of hydrogen production and to encourage companies to foray into hydrogen-related industries.
