Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival Concludes Its 15-Day Event

The Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival, a hallmark of Fukuoka's summer, concluded with the "Oiyama" race on July 15th in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City. Despite heavy rain, numerous citizens and tourists filled the temple grounds and streets to witness the event. After the Yamakasa float was dedicated at Kushida Shrine, it raced through a 5-kilometer course in the city, with the Higashinagare team recording the fastest time among the seven teams. Additionally, some floats were adorned to encourage and support the areas affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred in January.
