Toyota and Nissan to Build New Factories in Fukuoka Prefecture
Toyota Motor Corporation and Nissan Motor Corporation have announced plans to build new factories in Fukuoka Prefecture to produce batteries for electric vehicles (EVs). Toyota plans to construct a factory in the "Shin-Matsuyama Coastal Industrial Park" in Kanda Town, where it will produce next-generation EV batteries. These batteries are expected to offer improved performance in terms of range, cost, and charging time compared to those currently in use, with production slated to begin in 2028. Similarly, Nissan plans to develop and mass-produce batteries for light vehicles by 2028, marking a significant step toward establishing manufacturing hubs for EV batteries by major automakers.
