Fukuoka Prefecture, with an aim to attract investors and venture companies from Japan and abroad, has stationed one of its officials at the Tokyo base of the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC), a globally recognized startup support institution, since April of this year. CIC, which has bases in eight cities across four countries, houses over 250 companies at its "CIC Tokyo" facility – the largest startup aggregation facility in Japan. CIC is considering setting up a second base in Asia in the new Fukuoka Building (tentatively named) in Tenjin, Fukuoka City, by 2025.
