Progress Continues on Facility Improvements at Fukuoka Airport
Fukuoka Airport, the central air hub for Fukuoka City, is progressing steadily with extensive improvements to its infrastructure in both the domestic and international sectors. This year, in February, a new multi-storey car park was completed in the international terminal area, increasing parking capacity to 947 vehicles. Simultaneously, construction on a multi-storey car park in the domestic terminal has been underway since last year, aiming to nearly double its capacity from 837 to approximately 1,600 vehicles. In addition, a mixed-use development is being planned in the vicinity of the car park. Furthermore, a significant expansion is scheduled by March 2025. This will coincide with the commissioning of a second runway, currently under construction to the west of the existing one. Plans include enlarging the north side of the terminal and expanding the arrival lobby. An extensive expansion and renovation of the international terminal are also targeted for completion by 2025.
