Fukuoka Prefecture Begins Commercial Use of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Trucks
Fukuoka Prefecture has initiated the commercial use of two trucks powered by hydrogen fuel cells (HFCs). These vehicles, operated by Fukuoka Transportation and Hakuunsha, represent the first such undertaking in Western Japan, with the aim of employing these trucks for the distribution of food and daily goods within the Fukuoka metropolitan area.
The trucks, collaboratively developed by Toyota Motor Corporation and Isuzu Motors, have a payload capacity of three tons and require around ten minutes for hydrogen refueling. With a cruising range of 260 kilometers, the adoption of these HFC trucks aligns with the prefecture's objective of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Moreover, it is expected to encourage the proliferation of hydrogen stations, which are currently in short supply in the region.
